Volunteer Committee Descriptions

Academic Committee- Will focus on delivering a program to develop strong “STUDENT-Athletes”. This committee will work to forge productive three way partnerships with parents, teachers, the coaching staff and ultimately the athlete.Through this program, we seek to surround our kids and enhance their odds for academic success. Through mentorship, tutoring and uplifting the principles that make for good students, we want to showcase academic AND athletic achievements.A primary expectation of this committee is to make our“Academic Accountability Program” a run-away success!


Community Outreach Committee- This committee will be comprised of several Community Outreach Coordinators (COC’s).A COC will be assigned to, and responsible for, coordinating and planning GSA civic involvement in the Metropolitan Atlanta area, or other communities as assigned by the executive board. Activity examples include: Clean-Up Day, a pep rally, homecoming, Hands on Atlanta, etc.Members should be organized and good at leading projects. Additionally, the COC will assist the GSA board in executing plans, implementing best practices that establish GSA as a pillar in the communities in which it operates.


Equipment Committee- Is responsible for accurate inventory, issuance and maintenance of all participant/coaching uniforms, player equipment, training aids (sleds, blocking dummies, shields, ropes, etc.), megaphones, first aid kits, concession equipment and game field equipment (sideline markers, chain set, end zone pylons, field paint, etc.) that belong to the GSA Association.Football/cheer/basketball coaches shall assist the distribution of uniforms & equipment and have primary responsibility for the return of all issued GSA property. Members of this committee must be trustworthy, honest & display high integrity!

Facilities Committee- The facilities committee chair will act as a de facto game day operations. Further, it is the responsibility of this committee to manage traffic flow & parking, coordinate delivery and weekly servicing of Rented Port-a-Johns, assist with trash pickup and grass cutting of grounds/game/practice fields, secure maintenance equipment belonging to the Association & insure GSA has a functioning scoreboard at each home game. Duties shall be coordinated with Fulton County Schools and Principals.


Fundraising Committee- Provide recommendations, and implementation of, Association fundraising activities. With the help and support of high-trustworthy committee members, this Chairperson shall account for safe storage, inventory and game day setup for sale of: concession supplies, spirit items (shirts, hats, novelty items) for home game operations.Members of this committee must be trustworthy and honest!The chairperson will recruit volunteers who can be added to this committee without compromise to high-standards of integrity.This committee will man the spirit items table, Concession Stand & Ticketing/Gate as applicable, ensuring (where possible) that we have volunteer representation from all teams.

Marketing & Sponsorship Committee- This committee Chair will represent GSA in the best light possible to attract opportunities for companies and individuals to partner with GSA.Ultimately, the result of this committee’s effort will offset the GSA budget through cash or ‘in-kind’ contributions made on behalf of GSA.While marketing opportunities for companies and individuals to partner with the “next-generation, youth sports movement”, this committee will also ensure consistency in our participant, coach and volunteer messaging. This committee requires members who are comfortable networking with people and who are not afraid to ask for financial assistance confidently!


Operations Committee- The operations team will function as the point of contact for the stadium on game day.A designated member of this committee shall keep YFA league rules & certification book copies for each GSA team at every home game.The appropriate individual from this committee shall provide ‘best efforts’ to arbitrate disputes between coaches and/or referees regarding rules interpretation, and together with security staff, will handle unruliness and sports ethics problems from anyone at the facility.This committee will also oversee GSA safety procedures, and completing documented incident reports.


Parent Coach Association Committee- This committee has responsibility for the ‘participant experience’ as delegated by the GSA Executive Board.This includes the experience of program participants and parents with respect to interactions with respective coaching staffs; team mom’s, GSA boards and all GSA sanctioned volunteers.Committee members should be able to demonstrate solid customer service and conflict resolution competence.GSA will have one PCA for each sport we enter with oversight from our secretary.
